Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 6, 2026
Overview
Aria is an open-source softphone application developed by 5060 Solutions. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data Aria collects (spoiler: very little) and how it's handled.
Data We Don't Collect
Aria is designed with privacy as a core principle. The application:
- Does not include any telemetry or analytics
- Does not phone home to any servers
- Does not track your usage patterns
- Does not collect or transmit personal information
- Does not share data with third parties
Data Stored Locally
Aria stores the following data locally on your device:
- SIP Account Credentials: Your SIP username, server, and password are stored securely using your operating system's keychain/credential manager.
- Call History: Records of calls you've made and received are stored locally in the application's data directory.
- Contacts: Any contacts you add are stored locally.
- Call Recordings: If you enable call recording, audio files are saved to a directory you specify on your local filesystem.
- Application Settings: Your preferences (audio devices, theme, etc.) are stored locally.
All of this data remains on your device. You can delete it at any time by removing the application and its data directory.
Network Communications
When you use Aria to make calls, the application communicates directly with your SIP provider. This is necessary for the application to function and includes:
- SIP Signaling: Registration and call setup messages sent to your SIP server.
- RTP Media: Audio streams during active calls.
Aria supports TLS for SIP signaling and SRTP for media encryption. We strongly recommend enabling these features with your SIP provider for secure communications.
Optional Google Contacts Sync
If you choose to sync contacts from Google:
- Aria will request read-only access to your Google Contacts via OAuth 2.0.
- Contact data is fetched directly to your device and stored locally.
- We do not have access to your Google account or contacts.
- You can revoke access at any time via your Google account settings.
This Website
The ariasoftphone.com website:
- Is hosted on Cloudflare Pages
- Does not use cookies for tracking
- Does not include third-party analytics
- May collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type) as part of Cloudflare's infrastructure, subject to Cloudflare's privacy policy
Open Source Transparency
Aria's source code is publicly available on GitHub. You can inspect exactly what the application does and verify our privacy claims yourself. This transparency is a core value of our project.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. For significant changes, we'll provide notice through the application's release notes.
